Most dental software makes you book a demo before you see a number. Our directory follows a simple rule: we only list prices vendors publish, and we keep the source link on file. When there's nothing published, the card says "Contact vendor."
Of the tools we track, a few publish pricing we could verify, including Weave, Open Dental and tab32. Here's what each lists, as of October 2026.
What they publish
| Tool | Category | Score | Published pricing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Weave | Patient Communication | 8.6 | From $199/mo |
| Open Dental | Practice Management | 8.3 | $199/mo per location for the first 12 months, then $149/mo (up to 3 providers) |
| tab32 | Practice Management | 7.2 | $125/mo in year 1, $225/mo from year 2 (up to 3 providers) |
Sources: Weave pricing, Open Dental fees, tab32 pricing. Prices change, so always confirm on the vendor's site.
A few things worth noticing
Pricing structures differ, not just prices. Open Dental's price drops after the first year. tab32's rises after the first year. If you only compare year-one numbers, you'll get the wrong picture. Work out at least a three-year cost.
"Up to 3 providers" is a real limit. Both Open Dental's and tab32's published prices cover up to three providers. If you have more, or plan to grow, ask exactly what changes.
"From" means "starting at." Weave's published price is a starting point. Find out which plan covers what your front desk actually uses: phones, texting, reviews, payments.
Price isn't part of the score
Published pricing is useful, but it doesn't change a tool's score. Our scores reflect fit for dental practices, integrations, support and evidence. A low price on a tool that doesn't fit your workflow is still a bad deal. We highlight vendors that publish prices because transparency helps you shortlist faster, not because cheaper is better.
What to ask every "Contact vendor" tool
Most tools in the directory, including the top three in Imaging, don't publish pricing. That's normal in dental software. These questions help you compare quotes fairly:
- What's the pricing unit? Per location, per provider, per user, per image, or a flat fee?
- What does it cost after year one? Ask for years two and three in writing.
- What's not included? Ask about add-on modules, premium support tiers and extra integrations.
- What does onboarding cost? Ask about setup, training and data conversion fees, especially for a PMS switch.
- What's the contract term? Ask about minimum commitment, renewal terms and cancellation.
- Where does our data live, and can we export it? This matters most for practice management, where switching later is the hardest.
Put every answer in the same spreadsheet, and the "Contact vendor" tools become comparable with the ones that publish.
