Our review

ArchForm is software for designing clear aligners in-house. Orthodontists import scans, design the treatment and print aligners on their own 3D printers instead of sending cases to an aligner brand. The company says more than 7 million aligners have been made with ArchForm.

ArchForm's pitch is cost: it says customers have saved more than $300 million, based on its average price per case compared with a leading aligner company. That's a vendor calculation. We didn't confirm an FDA clearance for ArchForm in the sources we reviewed.

Who it's for: orthodontic practices with enough aligner volume to justify in-office printing and the staff time to run it.

Watch-outs: pricing isn't published. In-office aligners shift lab work, materials and liability to the practice, so account for printers, resin, thermoforming and staff training. Ask about regulatory status.

Our take: 7.3. Big savings potential for high-volume ortho.
