Our review

CephX is an orthodontic imaging AI platform from Orca Dental AI. It automates cephalometric tracing and analysis, segments CBCT scans (teeth, bone, airway and nerves), and produces diagnostic reports and predictive analyses for treatment planning. It runs in the cloud.

CephX has two FDA 510(k) clearances: CEPHX cephalometric analysis software (K231396, January 2024) and CEPHX3D (K252538, March 2026). The company says that makes it the only orthodontic AI diagnostic support company cleared for both 2D and 3D imaging. It is integrated into DEXIS DTX Studio Clinic and Greyfinch, and reports 18,500 registered clinicians and practices and 1.4 million images processed across 80 countries. Orca's previous domain now redirects to CephX.

Who it's for: orthodontists and DSOs that want fast, standardized cephalometric and CBCT analysis.

Watch-outs: it's ortho-focused, not a general caries detector. The $79-a-month 2D plan kicks in automatically after the free trial limits, so watch the billing terms.
