Our review

Grin is a virtual care platform for orthodontic practices. Patients attach the Grin Scope to their smartphone to capture clear intraoral images at home, and the practice reviews them to monitor treatment progress between visits. The platform is designed to help practices see patients less often in person while staying more connected, and to make treatment more convenient for patients.

Grin describes the Grin Scope as an FDA-registered medical device. Registration is not the same as clearance, and we didn't find an FDA clearance for AI analysis in Grin's materials. By comparison, DentalMonitoring holds an FDA De Novo authorization for its AI remote monitoring.

Who it's for: orthodontic practices that want a patient-friendly remote monitoring workflow.

Watch-outs: pricing and PMS integration details aren't published. Ask what analysis is automated versus reviewed by your team, and what regulatory status applies to any AI features.

Our take: 6.9. Patient-friendly, with thinner regulatory evidence.
